Writing

Introduced a new and deeply collaborative style of writing technical documentation using Confluence and Doxygen to Silicon Labs. This approach is now being adopted by the company’s IoT division.

Created workflows and standards for Micrium’s technical publications; first for printed books using Adobe FrameMaker, and later collaborative online publishing via Confluence.

Edited and published twelve massive 1000-page hardcover books for Micrium software.

Performed extensive rewriting of magazine articles, white papers, newsletters, and web content for Micrium.

Wrote three training course workbooks for Softimage products.

Wrote, designed, and illustrated over three dozen complex technical manuals and online help systems for Eicon Technology. Started at Eicon as a junior technical writer and left as a senior writer and group leader.

Photography and Videography

Co-wrote and produced an eleven-episode video series (totaling 90 minutes) about kernel-based application programming.

Wrote, produced, and performed in a five-episode video series about the technologies powering the Internet of Things. The series has earned more than 100,000 views on YouTube.

Wrote, produced, and narrated a short documentary about astronomical spectroscopy intended for lay audiences titled “The Rainbow and the Stars.”

Designed and produced innovative video-based training modules for Softimage products.

Co-wrote and co-produced a video series about living the best life with a chronic illness. The series host is Uzema Jeena, a spokesperson for Héma-Québec who has Thalassemia Major.

Worked as a freelance photographer, providing elegant portrait photography as well as product photography.

Photographed events for multiple charities, including the World Partnership Walk, the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, and Help-Portrait.

Web Development

Designed, architected, and built the corporate web presence for Micrium, which required extensive custom programming (PHP) for the user registration system and the downloads library. Continued to update and refresh the design of the website over six years.

Designed and built dozens of bespoke websites for a wide variety of small organizations while working freelance.

Designed the information architecture of several high-end corporate websites including sites for Canada Health Infoway, Reader’s Digest Best Health, and Buy Canadian First.

Design and Illustration

Produced an enormous quantity of graphical materials for Micrium over seven years including catalogues, datasheets, technical schematics, posters, trade show booths, and many other graphical elements.

Designed PDF-based tutorials and created technical illustrations for several products at Softimage.

Designed corporate logos for multiple business, including CIMI (National Research Council of Canada), STC Montreal, and House of Travel.
