My life’s work is about communication.
I’m a technical writer, photographer, web developer, and designer. I’m a former journalist. I was president of the Montreal chapter of the Society for Technical Communication.
I’m excited by learning, variety and creating things, and I look for work that allows me to flex as many different kinds of creative muscles as possible.

I have a large number of jobs at Micrium, all related to marketing, communications, and technical publications.
I produced a popular series of five educational videos about the Internet of Things. I wrote, photographed, illustrated, edited, and performed in all five videos.
I redesigned and rebuilt the company’s web site, a task that required extensive custom programming (PHP) for the user registration system and the downloads library.
I do extensive rewriting of magazine articles, press releases, web content, newsletters; almost anything published by the company.
I created workflows and standards for the company’s technical publications; first for printed books using Adobe FrameMaker, and later online publishing via Confluence.
I produce graphical materials such as catalogues, datasheets, schematics, posters, trade show booths, and many other elements.
I am responsible for the visual style of all of the company’s marketing, and contribute greatly to the company’s public messaging.

An Information Architect’s job is to make sure that web sites are understandable and easy to use. I determined the organization of information across the site, and improved findability, usability, and functionality; I touched upon everything that affects how people interact with, and use, information.
January 2003 – June 2007
Digital Wind is my own company, specializing in elegant web and print design, technical writing and editing, and corporate photography. The company is on hiatus.
QA Lead – Autodesk Cleaner
June 2005 – March 2007
(Recurring contract) I was lead tester for Autodesk Cleaner, a Windows and Macintosh application for processing video for CD, DVD, and the web. I traveled to India to work with the development team in Bangalore.
I also authored a marketing research report on video compression and the market for video tools and delivery systems.
April 2001 – August 2002
Although hired as a technical writer, I quickly grew into a broader role, creating five corporate web sites and a truckload of corporate communication material. I won an award for the design of the company’s 2001 annual report.

I designed and produced innovative video-based training modules for Softimage products. I designed PDF-based tutorials and created numerous technical illustrations for several product manuals. In addition,
I wrote three training course workbooks for Softimage products.
Senior Technical Writer
September 1993 – September 1999 (6 years 1 month)Montreal, Canada Area
I started at Eicon as a junior technical writer and left as a senior writer and group leader. I wrote, designed, and illustrated over three dozen complex technical manuals and online help systems on tight deadlines.
